New Exhaust Fitted by MIJ Performance

Just to keep you posted (if anyone's interested!!) just had a new CAT Back exhaust fitted to my 1.8t a4 quattro - twin exhaust - and it is fantastic.

The company MIJ www.mijperformance.com made a custom exhaust for the princely sum of £490.00 ex.vat with an entire range of custom tail tips for choice and complete control over noise.

I honestly thought it would be a bit of a compromise over the standard Milltek affair, but it is made on the day from T304 Stainless steel, lifetime warranty and all in some £250.00 cheaper than Milltek for something that i feel is better.

To give you an idea of the customer service they will offer, for starters they put up with me and i'm a fussy git but beyond that they made amendments the exhaust so that it is quieter in the cabin - little 3yr old to think of - they reviewed my Revo programming as well and smoothed it out no end, but above all they're enthusiast which in my books is always good.

Shout to Maz on the service and to the guys in the workshop for putting together a quality exhaust.

I second that, MIJ & Maz offer a top quality service. I've had my back box and mid-pipe replaced by them and I'm still very happy with the build quality. Just looking to fit a 3" d/p and sport cat when I have some time on my hand.

i went to MIJ a few months back to enquire about haveing a exhaust on my 1.8t but never got round to having it fitted but after your recomendation chris0 i may just have to go and pay them a visit again.

guys all i can say is that it is a top notch service, they're enthusiasts and understand what you want, in terms of noise i have opted for a medium sport which gives a good burble under acceleration - put it this way its a nice noise so that if you find a tunnel you just wind down your window and listen to the engine winding up the rev range...

in my case i didn't want too much noise in the cabin due to having a little un to think of and they took care of that by fitting extra baffles (i think?!) where the back pipe connects after the CAT and its a great balance.

Just tell them what you want and they can do the rest, have a look at their website and you can see they can do almost anything you want.

can't recommend them enough and great value for money.

MIJ fitted my back boxes, B6 S4. Was originally booked to have the full sports system, 200 cell cats etc, but I was concerned about the warranty aspects. They were really helpful. Did not try and give the hard sell and suggested that I just replace the back boxes, for aural effect, and that it would be easy to add the full system onto the boxes when the warranty runs out. I will be going back next year.

Very good service, competitive prices and excellent alternative to Milltek.

i can recommend mij also, they fitted my golf with a set of duel pipes like the R32, quality is top notch althou i have herd some horry stories. :s

All round though it all seems to be good, my exhaust has 'settled' now and its mounted dead centre now which is cool.

As for the horror stories, i think its a case that things will sometimes go wrong but a lot of the time if you go back to the company (whoever in this instance) and explain your story (CALMLY!) then everyone will be/should be treated fairly, its when people come in hot faced and shouting that often the problem seems to spirial further.

i work on both sides of a customer industry and i will not tolorate someone being aggressive and will push them that bit further for my own satisfaction, regardless of the problem that has occurred if they are going to jump around like a 3 yr old who can't take home the whole of Toys'R'Us.

People with a problem who are nice get dealt with VERY quickly, its something that in general does run through the car industry but isn't very well documented as most people only log their complaints on the web. If despite being nice you aren't getting what you deserve then its Citizen's Advice Bureau time and if you've paid your 3% commision via a Barclay Card VISA then phone them put it down as a damaged purchase and they will withdraw the purchase - these two things are the most highly effective way to make people sit up and take notice.

Cool read up, here i am Maz from MIJ. Anyway horror stories... i can tell you a few, the best 1 is when the customer thinks he is an exhaust specialist and 'thinks' he knows what he is talking about and what he wants, even after our advice theirs no changing his mind as he's read up somewhere that the specific setup will provide him with XXX BHP... lol.

Finally once the setup is done in accordance to the customers requirements, he is in for a suprise... TOO LOUD, BOY RACEY, LACK OF POWER... the list goes on!

Pin the blame on MIJ & come on a forum and complain or go red faced...

Moral: Leave the job to the experts unless you have a specific setup in mind or future plans!!

all is good dude. Just had Weitec suspension / shocks and H&R ARBs fitted so even better now.

Will do a write up when i have two minutes.

Will be in touch soon as i'm sure some other improvements are just over the horizon!

well I just want to say I use to work there. I tried to do a apprenticeship with them but sadly it never worked out. but I left on a good note. All the lads there work hard and it was a great team. I was a customer before I did my apprenticeship there. but they still did a great job. I would recommend them all the way.

gotta say my m8 had a scooby done by mij it looked sweet sounded sweet welds were neat very happy he did have a niggle were 1 bracket snapped off but took it back and they altered brackets and renewed with no extra cost and re booked in instantly over all he was very happy

I booked mine in for a tip or a back box. im not sure yet. I just want the tip done for styling.
