Im after a years warranty as I feel like im always paying out for something on my ****** car, as anyone tried/heard of these www.warrantyworks.co.uk ????

Is it cheap you reckon, £169.70 for a years warrenty with £1000 per claim.

They cover £58.75 maximum hourly labour inc vat so stealers you'd pay yourself what you would pay a non dealer!!

Anyone???

Well you'd only have to claim once to make it worthwhile! The labour rate is so-so, a Vauxhall specialist I use for my missus' Astra is about £50'ish per hour so your only going to be going to an independant for the work. Do they not specify approved local suppliers/repairers anyway or do you have to source the work yourself & claim it back? Price isnt bad though, as long as it includes all electrics. Been considering a warranty through the CSMA myself, similar price, covers pretty much everything the dealer warranty did & they specify approved repairers to do the work so your not involved in organising anything. Let us know how you get on though, im sure there's many folks worried about the next silly repair bill round the corner!!

Right, Ive allways been a bit confused by this. Ive thought about getting one of these warrantys in the past but what would stop me from taking out a policy with these people after I had a problem with my car?

Say Im driving home tonight and my turbo falls off, could I not just call these up when I get home, get a warranty and claim next week.

Obviously the car has to be in sound running order when the policy is taken out but how do they know that?

I dont get it.

Usually they have an assesor of some sort, who will check the car to see if it is a deathtrap (ie a possible expense for the warranty company).

These insurance policies hold no water whatsoever, steer clear. They will only replace or repair a mechanical or electrical failure, when was the last time you had some thing fail rather that wear out, they will only replace parts that fail, generally stuff stops working through wear and tear which is not covered, save your money and dont line there pockets, i once paid RAC 500quid for one of these policies on my BMW, the electric windows stopped working, they had stopped working cos they were worn out, not mechanical or elecrical failure, so they wouldnt pay! I tried to claim for 4-5 things and they wouldnt pay a penny.:tapedshut:

We bought a Warranty Direct warranty for our Bora when it reached 3 years old. Cost about £230. About a month after that the A/C compressor failed. Warranty Direct had to cough up £900 so I was very happy. However they did refuse to pay for a failed microswitch in one of the door locks (£60) and they wouldn't cover the failed MAF (£80). Overall I was very happy but I think their T&C are far stricter now.

Our Audi warranty expires at the end of August. I think I'll just stick £500 in an account to cover the possibility of problems as I hope to have another year of (relatively) trouble free motoring. the two small faults that the car currently has wouldn't be covered by most 3rd part warranties anyway.

Its funny you should say that, i found out 15 mins ago that VW warranty direct are refusing to cough up £315 for a convenience control unit for our Bora!!!! Those warranties are not worth a damn ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:keule:

:think:hmmm, Yes Im in 2 minds but that is what Im after, Warrenty for when things fail. Like mentioned, Air compressor, climate control units, turbos etc. I suppose it trial and error and I thing for £170 Ill take the chance.

Petewon - You must be reading my Mind because I suspect Ill be claiming within a few weeks - If you catch my drift!!!;)...something is just telling me to get that warrenty first!!!:sly:

....oh and by the way these people dont come out, you are covered soon as you hit that Pay button, I asked the guy on the phone and he said they are some of not many that cover you straight away without seeing you vehicle at all....I know, it sounds too good to be true dont it.
Trust me I asked this guy alot of questions, think I was getting on his nerves a little because I kept asking him questions which Id already covered just to be sure.

I asked the important question - "how can you offer a warrenty on a vehicle that you dont see and have no idea of its Status, history etc..."

he answered simply,"....all we ask is honesty from our customers....." :think:hmmmm....

So **** it, Ill try em out, £170 is what id spend on a serious saturday night Session with the lads so I guess they will have to do it next sat without me!!!!

Yeah what a coincidence it would be if you bought the warranty and something did happen :)

The only thing I can think of is that they have insurance and just claim it back on that everytime they have to pay out. Otherwise I just cant see it working.

Anyways good luck, let us know how you get on... If you do have to claim that is :sly:

I've got an A4 multitronic which will be out of dealer warranty in September. I'm considering a Warranty Direct policy. Heard good things in what car. Also, if you call them you can haggle down the online quote price.

I would have considered them but my motor is over 100,000mls and they dont entertain you. Warrantyworks cover you if you are 120,000 or under!!!
