if my v8 s4 doesnt have a cambelt can i jump up and down with joy at the thought that i wont ever have to shell out a fortune on belts, waterpumps and idlers anymore?
or is there some other expensive service instead? dont know much about this engine so any info would be great!

with chains they just stretch a little over time and get a little noisy. A friend works for BMW and they do very very few chain changes - it only tends to be on high mile 5 and 7 series (normally over 150k on the clock). Not sure if the water pump problem is still the same on the V8 lump as it is on the 1.8Ts etc

dont they have a serpentine belt?

not sure, i supose they must have some sort of ancillary drive belt, just cant see one. if it has i'd hate the job of changing it!
