Any Feedback on A4 2.0 FSI Sport?

Hello All,

I'm a new member. I was searching on the net for a decent Audi forum to be a member of. For advice and guidance, and this seemed to be the best one. I'm planning to purchase the following Audi model from a approved dealer:

A4 2.0 FSI Sport Just under 13k on 2004 reg

I did a google search but could not find any reviews on the sport model, all the results were FSI models. If anyone has previously owned or owns a similar model, any positive or negative feedback regarding this vehicle would be appreaciated.

I'm not purchasing this car for speed, if i get any more points i'm going to be carless for a longtime and I can't do public transport, as its unreliable and dirty. Look of the car, comfort, quality and reliability is more important to me than speed.

Sport is just the trim level of the car and has no bearing on performance so any review of the 2.0FSI is going to be accurate enough. Sport gives you 17" 5 spoke wheels, lower and stiffer suspension, 3 spoke leather steering wheel, sports seats and maybe a few other bits that I can't remember.

The 2.0FSI will easily help you loose your license but it'll be hard work doing it as the engine needs working hard to get decent performance.
 
The 2.0 is a capable cruiser. If you're not looking for speed or blistering performance it is adequate. Sport trim is probably the best to go for, as it has the goodies Macduff mentioned and an armrest and possibly DIS.

They're not too bad on fuel either and are quiet and comfortable.

No DIS or armrest on Sport I'm afraid. If they're fitted then they were specified separately by the original buyer.
 
Hi arayet, I've got a '03 2.0 FSI Sport Avant, used to have a '99 Golf GTi 20V Turbo.

The Audi's put together well, way more solid than my Golf with no squeaks or rattles so far. I've got electric Recaro front seats in alcantara / leather trim and they're perfect, way nicer than Recaros in the Golf and I thought they were top. Rear seats are comfortable too so I've been told with plenty of room. I've not got an armrest but I'm getting on ordered at some point, simple aftermarket fit. Steering wheel's 3 spoke leather and feels very nice, usual electric everything, dual climate works well, a 6CD changer in the glovebox, rear parking sensor and fold-in wing mirrors, which I love as I had to replace 2 on the Golf.

The engine's solid and smooth but lacking a bit in ooomph although I was used to my old Golf pushing out 200bhp though (and weighing about half the weight). I'm not fussed though, it still picks up plenty when it needs to.

It drinks a fair bit more petrol than my old Golf, round town around 25/26mpg, mototway runs usually 34-38mpg. I had a major service from Audi a month back and I said it was running a little uneven at idle, apparently that's how the engine is but after an ECU software update and using only 98RON petrol it's way smoother.

Not really able to say about reliability, I've only had mine for a couple of months but no complaints at all. Mine came with original 18" RS4 alloys but they were badly dented and scuffed and in need of new tyres so I bought a set of 18" RS6s with Goodyear F1s. I think 18s with Sports suspension fills the rims nicely. The ride is really smooth considering the rims are 18s with low profile tyres, minimal body roll and nice sharp cornering, my Golf felt like a boat in comparison.

Paintwork seems to be okay, mine's done 60k miles and has a few small stone chips, nothing major - the front of my Golf looked far worse at 60k but the paint on earlier mk4 Golfs was cr@p. Not sure whether you're looking at an Avant but I love the look of them, just need some colour coding on the side skirts and tints for the rear windows and I'll be happy with the looks.

Overall, I've got no regrets about getting mine, love it. Only thing I'd say is why pay through the nose for a dealer sale? It took me 30 seconds to find a private sale for an '04 53 plate A4 2.0 FSI SE with 32k miles, full Audi service history and 1 owner from new for under £10k......

I was certain the Sport models had an armrest as standard? Mine comes with one and it was fitted as standard from the factory.
 
My 2004 hasn't got an armrest and to be honest I wouldn't want one. Had one on our Bora and it spent all it's life folded up as it got in the way of the handbrake.

Also had to specify DIS separately from the Sport spec.
 
My SE has DIS and an armrest(not sure if they are an option) but i wouldnt be without them.

Sure, there you go - reading from the options book they're electric Recaros with the pull-out thigh extension bit, I'm guessing the trim's leather / alcantara.

Back on topic, I have an 03 2.0 FSI saloon SE (and before we go off on a tangent again, yes, mine does have an armrest and DIS). So I can't comment on the sport version, only about the 2.0 FSI generally.

Really just echoing what has been said here. You're not gonna set the world alight performance wise, but it will equit itself well amongst it's peers (and by this I mean other 2.0 petrol normally asperated 4 door saloons).

The FSI engine can sound a bit rattly when cold but soon settles down and once warm is a very quiet engine. It needs to be worked hard to find the 150 horses, but conversly, you do not have to try too hard to get good fuel ecconomy out of it. I enjoy an occasional bit of enthusiastic driving and over the last 17000 miles have averaged 34.5 mpg. 38-39 mpg is not unusual on my 100 mile round trip commute to work. I'm also getting over 18000 mile between services.

Well I followed an A3 2.0 fsi yesterday back from Ringwood on the A31, pulling away from roundabouts and that, seemed to pull away very well, hardly slow.

Sorry to disappoint but those are standard Audi sports seats with electric lumbar adjustment.

As long as you're happy. We had leather Recaros in our Bora and I found them more comfortable than the sports seats in the A4 but the Recaros are heavily bolstered and quite firm which isn't to everyone's taste.
