Hi All,
First time I have posted here as I have generally read up on info in the background so hi all!
Yesterday just left my house in my 2001 A4 2.0 (B6) and the engine warning light started flashing and the idle became very lumpy. Nursed it home and plugged in the VAG-Com and Cylinder 3 is misfiring.
Anyway the service indicator has been telling me to book it in for 4 weeks now so thought Id phone the local Audi dealership (Camberley Audi) and speak to them. Its just short of 80,000 miles on the clock. Now having spoken to them I have the following concerns.
1) Their hourly labour rate is £99.50!! (Im in the wrong job)
2) They have advised that the cambelt will need changing at the same time - £535 all inc
3) Long Life service £360 all inc
My main concern is the cambelt change as my service book says this need to be done at 115,000 miles. So why are they saying 80,000. I did query this but no answer could be given for this discrepency.
Can anyone shed any light on the cambelt issue?
Also has anyone had any experience with Camberley Audi and can give their opinion?
Is the misfiring likely to be spark plug, lead or coil pack. If it is the coil pack, I have read that these are generally faulty, should I have to pay?
Anyone know of an Audi Specialist in the area or who could recommend a good mechanic that will do Audis with more sensible hourly labour rates.
Questions, questions, questions!! ;o)
Thanks
