Removing Plastic Sill trims??? any advice on doing this, i need to remove all 4 to replace with new shiney s-line ones. but the buggers seem stuck solid :smashfreak:

any help is appriciated

i havnt done this on a audi but when i used to be a valeter and needed to do this type of thing we used to use heat guns to melt the glue thus making it easier to peel it off (also good for de-badging)

Hope this is of some help

I've not tried it on an Audi but can remember doing similar with a hair drier in the past on other cars. Took a bit longer I'm sure

Elsawin gives this lot

Outer sill panel trim cannot be removed without destroying it.

– Heat sill moulding with hot-air blower and lift off carefully.
– Clean area to be bonded with petrol, treat with silicone remover and rub dry.
l Sill mouldings are only to be bonded on at room temperature.
l This involves allowing vehicle and sill mouldings to adjust to ambient temperature for at least 2 hours prior to performing work.
l Once the backing foil has been removed, the protective moulding must be fitted on the vehicle within 90 minutes.
– Heat areas to be bonded with a hot-air blower to approx. 40°C.
- Detach backing from double sided adhesive tape shortly before fitting.
- Clip in and press on sill moulding.
- Vehicle must be kept at ambient temperature for 4 hours after bonding on moulding.

Hope it helps

doesnt help me remove it, even if i destroy it i might damage paintwork.

Elsawin just backs up the 'heating the glue' theory. If the glue is melting the paint should be fine.

wowsers no, im not doing that.

just the plastic kick trims, that are attached to the sill's
