I need to change the air filter element on my A4 (2.4 petrol V6).

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this a straightforward case of unscrew the housing, take out the old & put in the new one?

Or has this traditionally basic maintenence task become a specialist job with traps for the unwary?

Bump!

I've just tried to take the old filter out, and could't get to it. I released the two screws at the top corners of the air box, & prised the cover back, but I couldn't figure out how to release the two bottom corners. Are they held in by screws as well, in which case how the hell to I get access to them?

they are a b*tch to access if anything like my 2.7t .. there are clips all round my airbox you need to unfasten, remove all pipework in the surrounding area and unplug the ignition modules on top of the box and you should be able to lift of the cover. undoing the maf will make it even easier.
