Morning All,

Time for an Air Con service I feel. Car is 4 years old.

Anyone know of a good company in the Croydon
(south London) are.

Thanks.

Malcolm

How frequent are you meant to do this? My three year old S4 is getting a bit smelly so probably time. What does an a/c service involve over and above a re-gas?

I have to say that I am not really sure.

Presumably, all joints/seals etc are checked, even if only visually,
the system cleaned, re-gassed and filter changed.

My understanding is that there is no such thing as
a perfect seal, as light (as in not heavy) gases can escape molecule
by molecule. If that is true then over 4 years or so
a fair bit can leak away.

If there is an expert out then who can add/put me
straight I would be grateful.

Malcolm

The system will leak gas over a perod and some get used.
Manu recommend every 2 years and now recommend Anti bacterial agent run through the system after a year, well worth it.

On a/c sevrice they should, that is should drain the gas, check for oil removed while doing so, evaquate the system 15 - 30 min, pulls out any moister and vacumn the system, regas put some leak dye in it and do a temp check. 10min
they should look around for leaks or signs of dye too.
I recommend replace pollen filter too as if your doing anti bac on evaporator best change filter other wise your just going to suck crap straight back in.
Def worth doing I do mine every year, regass and antibac

Cheap way....
Go to halfrauds, buy a can of R134a and a can of Comma Air Con antiBac, then follow instructions on both products, this will regass and clean your air con, and save you over 100 quid.
