Pulling To The Left

I have a curiosity when I'm driving.

There is a slight pull to the left which I would simply put down to the wheel allignment/tracking requiring a tweak.

If I allow the wheel to feed through my hands freely the pull left becomes more pronounced and problematic.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas as to the cause?

Mine does the same and it has been tracked twice as I didn't think they did it right the first time.

I have driven 2 other quattro, A4 and A3, and they do the same.

With the camber in the road and the quattro system I think it's a feature rather than a fault.

Cheers mate. I think it is more pronouced though.

The main problem is getting tracking sorted is a difficult task as most places don't take the time to do it properly. Quattro would confuse them too...

Did the old test to make sure it wasn't the power steering motor, it wasn't.

My previous A4 did it, and I was told by the dealer(after alignment/tracking checked twice) that it was a feature of the car - it followed the camber of the road. I didn't believe him because it pulled left when I was travelling on the right side of the road as well. I got used to it, and pretty much ignored it. But, when I changed to a new set of tyres, it stopped pulling to the left. I put it down to symetrical/asymetrical tyres. The set I had on were asymetrical michelins, and the new tyres were symetrical(directional) pirellis'. It sounds unlikely, but it definately dissapeared with the new tyres.

First thing I checked matey. I check them every couple of weeks as a matter of fact. Thanks for the tip though.

Right-o then. I'll stick with it and up some expensive rubber on her next change, see if it stops or reduces the pull.

In the mean time I'll have my old Grandfather, 40 years selfemployed mechanic, to give her the once over. He's not an Audi specialist, but he'll have a general pke around and read/phone his mates.
