'ticky' belt??

Hey all,

when my A4 is cold (first thing in morning as example) it sounds like a belt somewhere is 'ticking' as it spins?? Too dry? It soon stops once the car warms up. Its hard to tell where its coming from...

Are you sure it isnt a chain of some sort as its a turbo model? Our 2.0T models have chains and mine seems to have a feint tick on idle also.

Does yours tick only when cold?

Mine never used to do this, It recently had a new alternator .... ?
