Finally got around to taking my car to the guys in Bristol who advertise on eBay after my gearbox started playing silly buggers. Had a code saying input speed sensor faulty so pointed to a faulty gearbox ecu, they removed and tested my ecu to find it was in fact fine, it was a circlip holding a shaft within the gearbox that had either broken off, or was never there, it allowed a spinning sensor to move off scale causing the fault. They replaced the sensor and circlip and it's perfect once more, they reset the adaptations and my car has never been smoother. They really know their stuff and if I ever have any gearbox issues I wouldn't take it anywhere else.

so happy to have my car back operating as it should, having spent out £1k on servicing, tax, and fixing this issue she will have to stay for at least another year.

Hope to take mine up there soon.

Do you know if there are any train stations near as I would need to leave my car there.

I'm sure they would drop you off at the station if you asked them. What do you need doing to yours?

Mike

Not sure lo.

Snatches into 1st gear when pulling away once warm and hard to reverse if on a slope (like the clutch is slipping).

Get the fluid changed with genuine VAG ATF. When suffering temp related issues with an auto box it's often old fluid thats causing the problem.

It has fault codes too.

This is what I got when I read it with Vagcom:

Controller: 01J 927 156 DB
Component: V30 01J 2.4l 5V RdW 3011
Coding: 00001
Shop #: WSC 04926
3 Faults Found:
17137 - Shift Solenoid 1 (N88): Circuit Failure
P0753 - 32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
17134 - Shift Solenoid 1 (N88): Malfunction
P0750 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17090 - Transmission Range Sensor (F125): Implausible Signal
P0706 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Oh dear multiple codes on a multitronic isn't good. Changing the fluid isn't going to help you there.

Get it to the guys in Bristol, they will sort it. Mine being off the road for two weeks I'm back in love with it. Can't stop driving it around :)

Yeah that's the plan.

Heard nothing but good things about them.

How long did they have your car for?

They had mine for two hours. They claim to be able to do a full refurb in two days. They have a lot of spares. They have a large workshop and ramp in their back garden. It's not a conventional set up but they know their stuff.

Booked in for Tuesday.

Be nice to be able to drive it properly and not look a fool revving it and then it grabbing 1st gear lol

This last week my cars PRND started flashing, I took it to my local VAG specialist and he said that it was an F125 fault which was intermittent. They quoted me £770 for a repair and they would have the car for a week as it would require sending the part away for a refurb. Pretty annoyed as the car has only done 56k

Seems a touch expensive as they will probably get it repaired by the people who did mine for £250, then all they have to do is refit and top up the oil. I guess it's hogging a ramp though. All it is is a poor solder join, they simply cut the ecu open, resolder, seal the ecu and send it back.

Hope you get it sorted ok mate.

Just back and ecu was the only problem.

Dropped the car off at 10 and went for trip on the train to the local ish towns.

Got back at 5 and the car was done and just about to go out for a drive to set the adaptations.

The wife will be happy to get her car back and driving properly.

What a day! Car started to judder on take off, then rev's real high and drops out of gear. Next thing I know I'm in limp mode. Gets home turns engine off then starts it again, takes her out on the road to only find it does the same again. Internet for most of the day to find out, well anything really! Looks like I just bought a lottery ticket to multi-hell.
Code reader tells me... Speed sensor g195 no signal p0722 and incorrect gear ratio p0730. So, lots of google and a few phone calls looks like the auto is dead!!!
Sorry mate but I'd sell for spares. Not worth it mate!

Now! Me being me decided to disconnect the battery. And remove the fault codes. Three times! And now it's back to normal and not reading any fault codes... what was that all about.

what WAS it all about? Appreciate this is an old thread. Just wondering did it come back or stay gone?
