Right so just had Paul scan my 1.9tdi
Awx

My synchro angle was at 5.0

Should I adjust it ASAP or just waiting til I get my timing belt done?

It does sound like a tractor on a cold morning, and I'm sure the tandem pump needs new seals.

Also does anyone know which measuring block to measure my injectors ?

Synchro angle should be as close to 0 as you can get it.
Engine measuring blocks 13,18, & 23 are all related to injectors.

Cheers Paul.
So should I just adjust the angle ASAP ?
Or wait til the timing belt is due?

Ooh how do I test / measure this on VCDS, can I do it with the shareware version?
Apparently the timing belt was done 10k before I purchased the car, I'm curious to see if it is close or on zero.

Moolard - run vcds, measure engine then measuring block 4, it's on the right.

It's due in about 5k miles Paul iirc
Il check the service history in a minute.

I know it's only a few minutes to adjust it. So I was thinking adjusting it, and see if it runs much better.

If it's only 5k away & the engine is running ok i wouldn't bother, but if you do decide to adjust it you only have to move the sprocket tiny amounts at a time.

Yeah I seen the videos.
Looks pretty simple tbh.
Il check my history and then decide

Yeah it's easy enough, but a bit of a pain having to go back & forwards loosening, adjusting, tightening back up & then checking on VCDS.

I would check the tensioner and belt out to make sure it's looking OK. It only takes a small adjustment to get a good change on the synchro angle and yours is a mile out. Assuming it was close to correct the last time it was changed something must have altered for it to be that far out. I would just get the belt changed, are you getting the water pump done as well. ?

Karl.

Right just checked the service history.
It got replaced at 137k and hasn't just clocked on 178k today.
According to the service book It needs doing every 60k.
So that mean its due 197k.
(18/19k away from a belt change)

Yes the water pump, rollers, tensioners the lot will be changed.

The lumpy starts and slight lack of power have become worse over time although it isn't too bad anyway.

Just compared to when I bought it (2.5years ago) it was a lot quieter.

Dereststorm - il do what you said and give it a check over just to be sure.
I think il adjust the syncro for now though. And see how it runs for a bit.
