Is it possible to turn the volume up at all the beep is barely audible when in reverse

Also can vag com be used instead of the smart mod to open and close the roof using the key fob

It's a simple tweak with VCDS, see Audi A4 (8E) Parking Aid (8-Channel - 8E2/8E5) - Ross-Tech Wiki

You can change the volume and the frequency, so if you have front and rear sensors they sound "more different".
