    Afternoon All,

Soon i will be the proud owner of a 2004 2.5 v6 tdi Quattro Estate.

Also is the anything i need to be looking out for??

    Cheers

Good choice of motor. Is it a Sport or SE model?

I'd hold off on the remap for now, speak to Adamss24 about different turbo option and even injector nozzles (depends on how far you want tune) and then remap it all in.

RS4 rarb is a good mod to add to improve handling. A lot people say don't use the cheap (sub £400/500) coilovers as they don't work too well. I wouldn't know personally.

Then it's subtle mods like led interior lights, number plate lights, alloys etc etc.

Mods to complete: Sport shocks to go with Eibach pro springs. Fit 17" 5 star matt black wheels. Fix lack of torque at low revs. Get a custom exhaust system fitted.

FOR SALE - Eibach Pro Sport springs for a 2.5 V6 B6/7 PM ME.

Deffo steer clear of those. Way too cheap. Have a read here: Fk coilovers fitted now getting knocking noise

Suspension has been covered loads. Some people like standard sport shocks for some springs like Eibach pro kit sportlines.

Each to their own though preferred method.

What (Chris) Adamss24 doesn't know about these engines isn't worth knowing!

Not much more to tell! The DIS info is displayed in the centre part of the dash as you know, and not affected by the head unit. If you change to an aftermarket head unit then (to the best of my knowledge) you will lose the radio display on the DIS.

EGR can be blanked using a plate from ebay - think I pad about £5 for mine.

Personally I wouldn't bother with an induction kit, the standard one has a cold feed and is good for high power I believe, just swap the filter over for a foam one.

Dont think there are any aftermarket de-cat pipes, the 2.5 has 3 IIRC (a pre-cat off the turbo - you can smash the innards out of it) and two underneath. I paid a local company (St Helens) for a full stainless system - it was only £450.

Nozzles, I think are Bosio 683 - but Adamss24 is the man to speak to about these!

Don't bother with induction kits on diesels they're a complete waste of time. If you can get more cold air to the box then that will help, but there is absolutely no gain from fitting a performance panel filter over the standard paper filter.

My understanding was the B6 quattros were 4wd all the time. And one of the last models to split the power 50/50 front to back rather than favouring the rear as some of the newer models do.

Let others come along to confirm, but this is what I was always lead to believe.

Defintely feels as though it's always 4wd when driving it about.

You are gonna cause a riot with comments like that lol. The A3 has a haldex quattro system which is electronic and does front wheel drive with rears as required and the controller is renowned for dying whereas all A4 quattros are permanent mechanical 4 wheel drive!

    All 2.5 TDi quattro's are 180bhp

    If it's 163bhp then it's fwd...

And yes, no Haldex was ever used in the B6 range. Ever. Despite what your mate says

PS, from memory the Torsen offers an (up to) 75:25 split?

Cheers James, didnt think it was right, will be having a good look underneath for a prop, no prop no 4wd??
Yes, it's a simple check. Just look for the rear diff and driveshafts.

As above, look underneath for diff and rear driveshafts. All quattro's were 180Bhp, they bloody need extra power with the extra weight ! Also early AKE engines are slightly different to the later BDH engines, early ones are euro3 and have larger injectors, later are euro4 and smaller injectors and more limiters in the maps. If you want to tune one then going for an early engine is definitely the way to go !
Also early y and 51 reg had all alloy intercoolers so they can hold more boost without splitting. On stock hardware and a remap they will see 200-210 Bhp, add larger nozzles (BAU allroad are the largest stock fitted nozzles) and you're looking at an extra 10Bhp and 50Nm of torque.
For proper gains you need to ditch the factory blower and get a modern hybrid in there and larger nozzles. Bosio pp683 are 20-40% larger but are designed for AFB-150Bhp injectors so you need to source a set of injectors for that. Going for silly power you will need larger nozzles (bosio race 683, doktores +60% or even the +130% 8 hole nozzles he's selling), ported heads, later BAU/BDG/BDH cam roller heads with solid cams (not entirely necessary but they have less cam gear loses compared to AFB/AKE/AKN/AYM engines), Sachs SRE clutch and a few more bits and bobs. That will make for a very nice driveable car with over 600Nm of torque and loads of midrange pull. Bhp is irrelevant as it's the torque that matters ! Mapping is the next big thing- very few tuners know how to tune these apart from a generic remap so thread carefully ! Adding a 3-4 Bar map sensor in the mix is also a wise move...

Yes, euro 4, tiny nozzles and loads of limiters in the tune... Here's mine on a motorway drive, rather busy and that was a 6th gear pull...took it easy as i don't have EGT gauge and i don't want to melt the turbo !

    Pros:

No gunk clogging up the veins in the turbo
    Cleaner, cooler better burn
    Possible slight MPG gains

    Cons:

Takes slightly longer to warm up in cold weather
If your car is 53reg onwards you will get the EML light on. To get rid of it the EGR needs to be deleted from the map on the ECU.
