Im looking to service my car in the next couple of weeks and I'll need to jack the car up and use axle stands to get under the car. Two questions, is there a central jacking point to lift the whole front end up to allow the placement of stands? While I was searching around someone recommended: Jacking point | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Where is best to place the stands?

...or should I just get some ramps!?

When I did the lower arms on mine last month, and the oil and filter a couple of months ago that picture you linked is where I put the axel stands. I jacked the car up by the strengthened jacking points on the cills of the car using a trolley jack.
Just put the stands under one side at a time starting at their lowest setting, then raise them one level, and one side at a time until you reach your desired height. This takes a bit longer going from side to side, but is safer than sticking one under at the desired level then jacking the other side up to put the other one in.
