01218 airbag fault fixed

Had this fault for a while with the airbag on on dash. After reading several sites,i decided to diy.

Very easy. Pump seat up,move forward.go undeneath and locate yellow plug.note the two different colour wires. Cut off plug. Reconnect wires.

Airbag light off. Did have to clear it with my cheap code reader.

My MOT test is due on Friday and my Airbag light decided to come on with the same code.

I performed the same procedure in my Cabriolet for the passenger seat;

Disconnected battery.
Moved backrest as far forward as it goes.
Removed bolts from rails
Tilted seat back so I could get under.
Located yellow plug and cut off
Snipped the cloth tape so I could get enough slack to join the wires
Stripped the wires back, slipped on heat shrink tubing, twisted and soldered, warmed tubing, wrapped in electrical tape and zip tied to plastic mount.

I then re-attached the battery, cleared the code and it hasn't come back.

Unfortunately when I reset the steering angle sensor, I tripped the ABS code 01486 - System Function Test activated.

I drove down the road slowly and turned left, which seemed to satisfy the ABS module and the code cleared, so I was lucky..
