Just been out in car and battery light came on,stayed on and trying to turn the car was like trying to turn the Titanic. Is this most likely to be the power steering pump or could this be something else.If so what kind of price will pump be.
Still a beginner at all this car maintenance stuff so be kind.

Cheers

auxiliary belt has come off or snapped by the sounds of it

Yeah as Stu says... belt has either come off or more likely snapped.... the same belt drives your alternater and power steering pump.... the battery light is a sign that the alternator isn't turning due to the lack of belt

If this is the case and it is a belt then am I right in saying this should be quite a cheap and easy fix.Like I say, sorry for the lack of knowledge but we all got to start somewhere eh

Cheers

You'll just need to know why the belt has broken etc, maybe it was just worn out, but maybe one of the pulleys has wear and has thrown it off or something.
