    Talking Drive By WTF?

    Hi everybody!

So, this is my B6 -

Obviously wants to be lower, and maybe someone can tell me if I can use sport springs with SE shocks?

But what I really want to know is - is there a way to speed up the DBW response? Particularly when going from full throttle to lifting off, the throttle doesn't respond quickly enough to make fast, smooth changes.

I've replaced the clutch switch. Twice. No difference.

How about the throttle body motor. Anything should be done to free it up?

Or how about re-setting the ECU? Is that likely to make any difference, and can I do it by just pulling the fuse? If so, which one?

I drove a 2012 Golf today and that was similar, though not as bad so maybe that's just how DBW is and I'll have to get used to it. If that's the case I'm surprised they didn't stick with cables! It can't be doing the clutch any favours...
Anyway, thanks in advance for any information/advice.

Sprint booster is supposedly decent too, all seem very overpriced though.

Yeah, they seem pretty steep. If this is how Audi intended it to be I can put up with it for now. No point re-setting ECU then?

You can reset the DBW very easily.

    1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.

    2. Turn the key to the on position, the position just before the starter turns over.

    3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

    4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position(don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

    5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment. During this time you may hear very faint noises and clicks. I
only heard one sitting in my car, if I got out and popped the hood I might hear more.

Thanks, I have tried that, but have not noticed any improvement. Should I disconnect the battery instead? Would that clear the ecu?

Get the codes read to see if there is underlying fault rather than just guessing!!!

Buy a cheap lead from ebay and use VCDS or go to a vag garage.

Dan is on the money. I certainly will get the codes read when it's in for servicing. In the meantime I would be interested in hearing if anyone has had any improvement in throttle response from an ecu reset.

Also can I use sport springs with se shocks?

Yes, although they'll be used in a lower position of their travel, so they might suffer a reduced life, but they will be fine in the short term.

Check that the clutch pedal switch is working with VCDS. If it fails the rpms are slow to drop on gear changes.
