Newbie - advice sought about VAG software and auto door locking

Hi. Recently acquired a 2003 Cabriolet, 1.8T.
Is it possible to get the doors and boot to auto lock once the car is underway ?

Also, is this useful to enable me to interogate the car's fault codes or is there something better out there ?

Welcome to audi-sport.net David. The cheap ebay cables are very limited on what they can do, if you going to be keeping your audi long term you should invest in the genuine ross tech cable (user nhn on here supplies these) you have full back up and all updates with the genuine cable) you also have the option of getting another user in your area to scan your car for you, just check out the vcds map for those close to you. yes you can do auto locking its really easy to do

but at £250 for a cable might be expensive just for that! hope you have other plans with the cable!

if not find someone local to you on the vcds map

Ouch !
That's certainly more than I was looking to spend.
Are the "fleabay" ones totally useless then ?......they cost less than £20.
Where would I find the "vcds map" ?

yeah they will only do a basic error check and thats about it

VCDS is well worth the money and the resale value is high too

I have used mine countless times and done work for others too

Always a contentious issue....

As mentioned. £250 is a lot to justify for a few simple codes. I bought an ebay cable and have coded anti-hijack locks into mine.
