climiate control unit issue

so ive noticed i can only adjust the fan speed when its directed at the windscreen and set to LO, however once i change the temp it drops automatically to 1? i would have thought i could adjust the fan speed no matter the temp, its only when directed at windscreen when on vents etc i can select any fan speed any temp, and auto is disabled

is it on auto ?

also when i change vent direction it will move up or down

and sometimes wont let me change speed for a few mins

had this on all my b6 b7
