Ok ,I've read through the searches about this. Is it just a case of undoing the battery, then the bolts holding the 4 arm steering wheel on,the plugs behind the wheel and then replace with the 3 arm wheel (complete with correct airbag),its not going to go off in my face or anything is it? There isnt a 'how to' in the guides section?

thanks

andy :)

Wouldn't worry too much about it blowing off in your face as airbag's are activated from the front of a car. There are many guides plus this question gets asked and answered daily. This isn't exact but it's what two seconds of searching google provided AudiEnthusiasts Steering Wheel Swap.

The airbag control module contains a capacitor large enough to fire the airbag (so even if the battery gets disconnected in a crash the airbag can still deploy).

This is why the advice is always to disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes for the capacitor to discharge - it's all too easy to short a couple of pins when opening the connectors, and if the capacitor is still charged that can set off the airbag.

Don't take the risk - remove the battery and wait for a few minutes.
