Took my little one to school the other morning and I could smell fuel, got to work and left it till lunch time, anyhow I took it home and stripped the cowling off to check the fuel filter as by then I could see there was fuel leaking from that area.

Stripped it off and the fuel lead leading from the tank to the pump had chaffed on the underneath of the car and over the years its worn a hole into the fuel line, £108 later all fixed thanks to Midland VW.

Did a look on here but couldn't find anything however on other forums people say it is something to watch!!!

Is this model specific? If so, which model/s??

Not sure but I have a 1.8t Avant its worth getting your head underneath and checking even possibly wrapping some electrical tape around the fuel line as a preventative measure like I am going to do the weekend once I change my fuel filter, shame they are not braided this would save the issue happening.
