'please close boot'

I bought an Audi a4 (2003)cabriolet recently, unfortunately when ever I attempt to convert the hood I get a prompt on the dash that say 'please close boot'. but the boot is closed. what could be the problem? kindly help

the micro switch in the boot lock may have failed

get it on vcds to see any fault codes

Open the boot up and its the hole catch on the boot lid.
You'll need to remove the boot trim to remove it.
There will also be a part number on it.
