Boot open warning

Hi all..... my DIS is warning that the boot is open even though it's not.... given the door a good slam and made sure but the warning is still there.... I can't see any obvious switch anywhere .... is there a common fault to check for ?? broken loom perhaps ?? anyone know where the switch is ?? car is 2002 TDi Avant need to sort it as it overrides all the DIS info whilst it's illuminated

The micro switch is in the lock

Pretty sure you can remove it

It's not the wiring as when that goes it shows as shut all the time as I have had it

Happens a fair bit to me, just usually shut it a few times and it goes or have the key in and out a few times, guessing you've done this a fair few times though so as you and Stu say probably just need to remove/replace the switch in the lock or have it coded out (although then obviously you loose the ability to know when it's open).

I'd spray loads of WD40 into the mech, see if that sorts it out.
