Avant tailgate hinge arrows??

Just seen on the plastic hinge covers of my tailgate 2 broken arrows pointing up and 2 slots nearby,,
what are they for???

tried a search but found nothing and theres nothing in my handbook.

And now i know!!!
When you open the tailgate and let it rest in the open position,you can open it a bit more by pushing the tailgate upwards.
maybe to give more loading access.....sorted:rockwoot:

The official reason is so that you can push it up if needed, but it won't open that high by default and make it awkward for vertically challenged people to reach up and close.
 
Mine has lost this but it suits me cos I am over 6 foot and always liable to head butt something if its too low.
