child lock problems?!

i recently purchased my first audi avant, everything seems great so far.

but i have a small problem with the rear doors, they wont open from the inside, i tried to press the "unlock" button on the drivers door and i hear it clicking and something happening in rear locks but still wont open.

anywhere i should look?

Apologies if the b6 and b7 differ in this respect, but in my car (b7) there is a little lock on the ends of the rear doors near to the locking mechanism itself which you turn with the key to activate / deactivate the child locks.
