Multitronic or Tiptronic

Does the 2.5TDi 180 Quattro have the multitronic or the tiptronic gearbox? Or, could either be specified?

I believe it will be tiptronic - not sure that they do the multi with quattro.. might be wrong though!

Is there any difference in the gear-stick gate/surround?

Sould be tiptronic as the multi doesn't like a lot of power etc.
Go with tip tronic, especially if you have no warranty !! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Multi tronic only has PRND in the display as tip has PRNDS

Multi has PRNDS as well, and it now says what gear it is in too.

My Multi also has the gear change controls on the steering wheel for when you are in manual, in addition to the tiptronic controls at the lever..

Hi, I have a 180bhp 2.5tdi quattro.. Mine is a 6 speeder though. When I bought it I fancied the multi,but you can't have it with quattro,only the tiptronic... I drove a multi and was impressed once you were moving,but it was very sluggish from pull away. The tiptronic felt better,but then I drove the manual and felt it to be a lot more lively.The 2.5 is a very lazy engine and needs some stirring to make it go.I believe the new 3.0tdi's are a whole new ball game though...
