    Weight Reduction

Weight reduction reduces fuel consumption & increases speed so it's win-win.
Probably covered before but wanted a definitive list.

    Free list:
    Remove spare tyre
    Remove safety triangle
    Remove jack
    Remove tools
    Remove first aid kit
    Decat exhaust
    Remove 6CD changer
    Remove floor mats
    Remove sound insulation
    Remove seats
    Remove trim
    Remove air conditioning
    Put yourself on a diet

    Paid list:
    Lightweight wheels and tyres
    Lightweight battery
    Carbon/aluminium bonnet
    Carbon/aluminium boot
Smaller back box (or straight pipe)
    Lightweight brakes
    Lightweight flywheel
    Lightweight seats
    Plastic windows
Lightweight radiators (all over ebay but with no mention of weight?)

Comment on practicality, and please add.

tbh, most of the "free" reductions aren't worth the trouble as they are very minimal in weight (except seats which weigh a huge amount! But then you wont have anywhere to sit). These cars (if you have 4wd) are very heavily weighted in the mechanical components that you cant really do much with unless you are very well funded. Also weight savings are subjective to its use. A daily driver, you probably dont want a fully stripped, decated and without its sound insulation, whereas a track prepped car you might want to go all in and get GFRP/CFRP body panels, roof, boot, bonnet, etc etc etc.

Yeah, but with savings of 50+lbs and an unlikely occurrence of punctures many prefer breakdown cover/run flat tyres/tyre sealer.

I looked into this on a previous car. Decided it was easier and quicker just to go on a diet! But I see you've got that covered as well.....

    * Smaller brakes too if you dare :0

    * Single backbox exhaust conversion if you have twins.

    * Engine covers, arch liners, under tray etc

All depends on how extreme you want to go.

Cheers, tried adding but won't let us edit first post now

Was also going to add approximate weight of each item so people could see potential savings.

Found this a good read http://www.drivealuminum.org/researc...ardo-Study.pdf
5-10% is easily achievable with little compromise or cost.
