Drivers window wont operate

Ive not taken the door pad off yet but thought i'd ask before i do.
My drivers door window wont go up or down,i can hear the motor trying so is it likely that the plastic guides have broke as they do on vw's?? Ive changed many on my vw's as the plastic ones break.

Sounds like the window regulator, had to put one on my S4, and a few golfs.

Top tip, buy genuine part only, not pattern, not ebay, genuine from TPS!

Just to update,finally got the pad off.The wires have snapped so new mech needed.Previous owner has tie wrapped a piece of tree branch(not wood but literally a piece of tree branch) to attempt to hold the glass up.......unbelieveable!!
