Been an oil burner for many years now basically for the better fuel figures and torqey driving style. If I went petrol now I would do a lgp conversion on a six pot.
I had the 150bhp version of the 1.8T running 221bhp courtesy of r-tech and I found it to be very economical for a petrol turbo, when I changed it for an astra vxr (2.0T) my fuel bill went up by 50% and then I changed for s3 8p and it went up by about 20% again, most weeks I spend about twice what I did in fuel on the 1.8t doing the same journeys ! That being said it doesn't produce nearly as much torque as either vxr or s3 8p
seriously? how can you get mpg into the 40's whats the secret?
we had a mk4 r32 before our current 1.8t and my wife only does 10 miles a day and the mpg is down at the mid twentys which is starting to get a bit frustrating considering the r32 was regularly around the 31 mark for the same journey.
does anyone have experience of the mpg increasing greatly on these with a map?
it only has a milltek exhaust fitted apart from that its totally standard engine wise, just a bit dissapointed really because apart from the higher fuel consumption my wife and i love the car
