pluged the B unit in and it keeps sidelights on when trying indercators it flashes the side lights fast
no fault codes etc

My car is an 02 but 03 model year and it has the 279c unit in it.

The parts catalogue lists 279d thru g the difference being d isn't listed for DIS (but mines a C and DIS works!)

A 'B' unit should preface a C and usually the later units are backwards compatible.

Have you looked at adaptation and coding - as the unit you are putting in could be coded for lights, etc.
