Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, currently owning an a4 1.6 avant sport and previously owning an '88 UR, anyway on with the problem!

my a4 currently has an issue with warming up, the problem is just occasional at the moment. The engine is just not getting up to temperature, even on long journeys it will sometimes not raise above 70 degrees, The radiator fan seems to come on early, causing this problem, also occasionally stays on for a few minutes after turning the car off.

I think the problem will be the temp sensor in the radiator (hopefully not the thermostat!), can anyone give me some advice with what the problem is most likely to be? And if possible some part numbers?

thanks in advance,
andy

Its more then likely the stat

The stats job is to keep it at 90 or there abouts once it reaches 90 it will open and let cool water in from the rad and hot to the rad to be cooled

no amount of fan turning will cool the car if the stat is closed

it sounds like your stat is stuck slightly open

the fans been on could be a different problem

If its not your stat then the next thing would be your temp sensor
