Revs dropping when coming to a stop

Hi all, ive developed this problem on my 3.0 quattro tip, when coming to a stop at junctions the revs drop below idle and the gear bangs in, when i pull away all is ok, when booting the box changes smoothly
any ideas ?

Its booked in for a transmission fluid change !

throttle body may need cleaning or you may have a split breather causing for an air leak?

Is it still the same even if you change to neutral before you stop?

Ive never tried changing into neutral when slowing down
What would this do?

i have a rough idea, but where is the throttle body on the v6 ?
undermeath the plastic audi cover at end of air filter ducting ?
