The difference between a 235/40 and a 245/40 is only 10mm in width and and 8mm in diameter. If the 245/40's are say half worn there going to be close in size to a new 235/40 so I doubt rubbing will be an issue. Also if the wheels are 18's and from an A8 there 5x112 with an et45 exactly the same stud pattern and offset as S4 Avus wheels which fit on my A4 with no problems at all no need of spacers etc. The only difference to the S4 wheels are the Fat fives are 8.5 width and the S4 Avus wheels are 8 width.

To be honest easiest way to find out if they will rub or not is to fit them up and try them.

Which tyre size do you actually have fitted? as you have stated two different sizes now. If there 245/45 R18 no chance they will fit if there 245/40 R18 they might fit with possibly a small chance of rubbing at full lock.

Right well they are on and I can comfirm THEY FIT! Only just but they fit, with no rubbing at all. The tyre size is 245 45 18. I think when I have new tyres on I will drop them to 235 40 18. But I can comfirm they fit

Cheers Crazy/Chez, I'm not into the lowered with rubberband tyres anymore (like I had on most my golfs) I find it ruins the ride of a nice car. I think I'll stick with the 45 profile but perhaps 225/235 when new ones are needed.

well anything from £50 (silly cheap things) to £120 each paul! i paid £109 each for goodyear f1 assymetric 2 from my tyres.co.uk! which was better than camskill!
i got decent ones because i want them to last! and there really good in the wet! and as you know our roads are rarely dry!
also i am told i can expect over 20k miles from them driven sensible!

    Who is Paul?

Cheers dude, that's not too bad a price at all. Time to possibly look for some 18's when these tyres go to a bit thin around the edges.

I don't know why you bother with longer lasting tyres though...your engine is gonna go pop any second

    Have a good Christmas dude.
