Wing Mirrors and random wire whats it for....

....ok a polish lorry driver decided he was in the wrong lane going around a roundabout and my lane was where he wanted to be which means I now need a new wing mirror and glass but my question is....I took the cover off mine are heated and there is also another random wire with a connector on it just hanging loosely inside does anyone know what its is for?

Only thing I can think of is maybe its for the anti dazzle feature?
