Hi
Can anyone help ?
I recently bought a 2004 B6 Audi A4 1.8t multitronic (63,000) from an independent dealer , on my way home the gear selector lights on the dash started flashing then stopped and highlighted D for drive as normal , also which happens often is it will slip into Sport mode on its own accord while the gearbox indicates drive ??? It has a 3 month warranty thank goodness , just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem ?
thanks in advance

check if it's had the recall and 7 plate conversion (it was NOT standard on 1.8T's, especially low mileage ones!).... if not, then 60k is a fairly typical time for that gearbox to go pop and it's a £1500 fix... assuming the seller won't stump up for that, then best to get your money back and walk away.

Hi Many thanks for your reply
No it's still got the original 6 speed gearbox , it's going in this week for to have a new ECU ? does that make sense ?
Thanks in advance

ECU is one of the main faults on that gearbox, As above check that it has had the 7 plate clutch upgrade not 6 speed
