water pump bearing collapsed. dont try to start it again!!

did it cut out or did you turn it off? water pump is driven off the cambelt, hope its not jumped any teeth bending valves etc!!

get it recovered to a garage.

as long as you turned it off and the engine didnt clatter to a stop on its own it'll be ok.
a failure of the water pump bearing can drop the tension off the belt and make the belt run out of true. dont start it again!

cost wise it should be the same as a routine belt/pump replacement.

Not yet mate, hoping insurance will pick up bill as it happened after collection from bodyshop after accident, waiting for chief engineer to assess it next week, although he wont be able to start it !
got some quotes ranging from £650-£1600 !

if its the water pump thats failed then its unrelated to any accident damage the insurance have paid out for to have fixed.

£1600 really? at a guess id say 500 ish plus vat for a routine cambelt change.

is this the quad cam 3.0l v6? make sure however does it has the special tools required.

it is the quad cam engine !, costs included recovery, not a job for any old garage then, a lot are shying away or quoting silly prices

    Nice work!
As for the prices. I paid Audi 2 years ago to do my cambelt and water pump on my 2.5 tdi and it cost just over £700
