It might sort of work....

If it's been coded for e.g. an A3 or A6 or TT or R8 then it won't turn on/off with the ignition until it's been coded.
You won't get the nav instructions appearing in your DIS until you re-code the instruments.
If you have an MFSW it won't work with that until you re-code the RNS-E.
If you have the Audi phone kit then that might not work until you clear the fault codes that always appear when you do this retrofit.

Basically, you need access to VCDS when you do this retrofit on an A4.

it came out of an a4 and is going in my a4 cab

So it should turn on/off with the ignition then.

What about MFSW, BT module, etc?

And you'll still have to recode the instruments to make the navigation instructions appear in the DIS.

I'm a Moderator on audiforum.us (which started out specialising in RNS-E retrofitting) and it's amazed me over the years how many people have been told or believe that the RNS-E retrofit is plug'n'play. Physically it's close to that, but the number of occasions when you don't need VCDS is tiny - a few tens out of thousands.

Anyone no the. Codes then I don't have Bose and I don't have phone module

what name is it under to change code soi see arrow on dash when i use sat nav

Just remember if its a red dis, this has issues with rns-e showing nav info until its turned on/off momentarily, hence why all factory fitted rns units had colour dis fitted iirc.
