A4 AVANT 2003 GAS STRUT PIN WORN THREAD

Please can anybody help me, i have found that the rear gas strut pin on my avant has become worn and loose and has completely come out of its fixing.
How can i fix this can anybody tell me if it is easy to remove the liner so i can get a bolt and washer on the back of the thread or maybe a better idea to rethead at with a recoill set?..
