Driving home tonight there is a grinding noise when selecting 1 to 2nd and 3rd to 2nd etc - What could this be, any ideas ? ? It's never been there until now - Please help !!! Argh !!

whats the mileage on your car smudge? sounds like a worn gear selector / layshaft problem with the gearbox at worst or maybe clutch bearing? or possibly just needs fresh oil.

The car has done 37k and is 9K from a service - Yes it is much worse when cold and clunky when selecting gear. But still bad when warm - Eg If you take it upto 5000rpm in 1st when you go into 2nd you can hear it crunch - at low revs it not such a problem. Why only these gears ? It's at the stealers on Thursday but I guarantee they will say "we can't find the fault" you watch - it's defo there. what do you reackon now ?
