I have one of these Dension ice-link's in my B6 installed by a previous owner.
Rather than just use AUX the unit goes through radio, so I tune the Symphony II to 88.3 on the FM dial and I get music from my iPod.

This is fine but I'm looking to understand if there is any way I can fool the radio (and consequently the DIS) to name this station "iPod" or something, rather than just "88.3"? I have this stored as a FM pre-set in the memory.

I have VCDS but it doesn't appear you can change anything in the radio unit itself from within it.

A station name only appears if there is RDS information being transmitted by the station - and as your RF transmitter doesn't transmit RDS then the answer is no.

Hmmm, wondering if RDS encoding is propriatory or has been 'simulated' for display when using these devices - assuming they are connected to music players which have track naming etc. like i-pods.

Reminder to self *take a look at Google after work*
