Rumble from engine at low revs, 1.9tdi

I've always noticed that the engine has a low rumble (similar to a wheel bearing noise) when accellerating at full throttle at low revs (before boost) but goes away once the turbo kicks in. Is this anything to worry about?

The car is a 2003 1.9TDI 130.

Could it just be air box noise?

There have been some threads on the alternator clutch bearings, it might be worth a search for them to see if the symptoms are similar.
