I have done a forum search on this but couldn't find anything specific!
I had my mate do a service on my 04 a4 1.8t, when he came to turning off the service light with the info he had printed off, nothing happened,
can any body help me with this? What is the pattern for doing this?

Thanks

Press and hold the spanner button turn ignition on while keeping hold of the spanner then press the trip reset 00 button remembering to keep the spanner button pressed at all times

And that's it

and yes i have just checkd my manual and you were right it does tell you how,
i had just presumed that audi being audi would rather the customer be forced to take theyre vehicle to a audi dealer and charge them £*** to reset it. than to just give them the answer in the owners manual.

so point taken.

I had hoped the :icon_thumright: smiley had illustrated that my comment was in jest.....

I realise some people have trouble getting the search to work, if you click on Advanced Search underneath, and tick the "Thread titles only" box you might get more accurate results, that process found these:

Failing that, try Google and enter "Audi-sport.net *search term* " and see if that helps.

Lol?

I thought those links might help you in the effectiveness of your future searches.

lol thanks for your help, its appriciated, after all what are forums all about if its not to help and assist your fellow enthusiasts.

what does avs stand for audi ~~~ sevice? and whats longlife all about?

Audi Variable Service - thats what we're all on generally.

Longlife was a service routine bought in by Audi for fleet buyers, I don't know much about it, but the idea was to extend oil changes to 20k etc. On engines like the 1.8T this can be particularly catastrophic!
