Red Oil Warning Light Beeping ?

I was wondering if anyone has come across this before, A red oil can warning light with a beep came on the dash today whilst out, has anyone any idea what this could be, a lot of american forums say it will either be the oil pressure switch faulty or the pick up pipe blocked.

Have you checked the oil level first?

Is it just a case of draining oil, removing sump and cleaning the pipework, then eplace oil with new.

Yeah, pretty much, I had the same thing on my a3 not so long back, pick up pipe was blocked and sump was sludged up, get the sump off and clean everything! New pick up pipe is £9 iirc from tps, well worth it imo unless you want to spend an hour cleaning it!

Try not to drive it till youve sorted it mate, if you have a turbo'd car there wont be much, if any oil getting to it! I had this problem to and needed a new oil pump! Good luck mate with the dreaded sludge!
