Changes to MOT rules in 2012 - Are you ready? - Autoblog UKNew MOT changes means cars with HID headlights should be fitted with self leveling and headlight washers which are to be checked on MOT

now we all knew that where supposed to have them but they are now going to fail on MOT if not fitted

any thoughts?

you bet ya they will fail you for them, also any bulb that does not light up or go out on the dash!

Unlucky for my pal then. Owns a civic type r and just had HID's fitted by Hond-r! Hahaha

I just take mine out for mot. Takes 10 mins tops.

Some of these rules will be taken with a pitch of salt by testers, theres always going to be to the letter testers, and those that let little things pass and as already stated all you have to do is unplug the HIDS and stick ya standard bulbs in.

If you've got a none airbag steering wheel fitted that will be an **** having to swop that back over.........

glad i read this post mine up for mot in the next few weeks best take them hids out to be safe now where did i put my old ones lol

i will be leaving mine in and if they get flagged change them and take it back for retest
