Please help.Been out in the car all day (1.9 avant tdi ) which was running as normal but i've just got back in and on starting the esp light came on followed by the glow plug light flashing about 20 secs later. The revs are up to 1100rpm and the throttle does not work.Managed to get the car back into the drive as if it's running on full choke.

Last time I heard about this it was something like a leaking ECU cover affecting the throttle or something.

Like james says , check for water ingress into the ecu box, ecu plug. The only time ive come across this is a faulty throttle pedal giving the same probs, you need to scan the ecu if poss, do you have access to vag com?

hi, i have just had the exact same problem last night, traction control light, glow plugs light and no throttle- breakdown chap tried cleaning the throttle sensor i think, switched engine on and off, then trottle is fine, as soon as i set off same thing again, he stuck a diagnostics but no faults whatsover. however, i noticed a damp patch on the carpet in the footwell just behind the pedals,(a problem which i have had before with water in the drivers footwell) anyhow he said most likely to be a faulty throttle sensor so have booked into audi, strangely, took the car for a quick spin today and no lights and throttle fine- very annoying plus meant to go away today but dont know whether to risk it...........

have this same problem with a car at work. the drivers floor is soaking wet and wont rev. is there any danger that it could blow a ecu???

no thanks problem rectified itself overnight.Took it to my local audi specialist who said it was the throttle sensor playing up but said to keep an eye on it.

you may or may not have this issue, but i would advise you to check that you have no damp patches on your carpet in the footwell. my issue was a leaking ecu housing which i had checked out a few months ago, audi duly repalced the the ecu and the housing cover last time, unfortunately this did not stop water leaking in, this time round they replaced the whole housing and connectors and throttle pedal as it had water ingress, and fortunately for me all as goodwill and FOC....seems to have fixed the problem, fingers crossed......to think that a blimin water leak has been the biggest issue for this car since i bought it is even more surprising and maybe just my bad luck....
