    cheap brake upgrade 312mm

    hi all im from the b5 section, i have recently aquired a pair of 312mm carriers and calipers ,unfortunatly i bought them in a bit of a hurry and didnt realise they fit b6 uprights and not mine im really just after what i paid which was £100 posted) these would be ideal for any of you guys currently running either 280mm or 288mm front discs.

    make for a really nice upgrade if interested pleae just give us a pm

    You should be able to use these with your current caliper.... even saves bleeding the brakes !
    I've been running this for about 7-8 years on a 1.8T quattro Sport. It came with 288mms front discs.
    Unbolted carrier, dismantle current caliper/carrier, re-assemble 312 carrier to existing caliper, fit 312 disc, bolt up 'new' carrier/caliper, insert pads.....
    Not as good as a proper 'big brake' kit but a worthwhile small improvement imho

    kingfisher: he has mk5 golf calipers, which use a wider spacing to what the B5 uses, hence why he cant just do what you've said!

    B5 uprights only work with Mk4 golf/Mk1 TT/8L S3 carriers.

    Yep the 312 setup is what all the MK4 lot are doing

    It sounds like Tangerinedream has got a set of ATE caliper's and carriers from an A4 B6 3.0 petrol, Tangerinedream can you clarify this?
