What's this?

Evening. I was briefly fiddling with the car tonight and I noticed this pipe running across the top of the cabin filter box. The thing is, it's not connected to anything? One end (near the battery) just ends and I can't see where the other end runs to?

Can anybody shed any light on this?

it plugs into the battery on the side at the top
