So, steering became very noisy at the weekend, noticed a lot of fluid had gone from the reservoir - but there was no signs of a leak.
So, topped it up, only for 150ish miles later, hardly any fluid again... Found that the bottom of the drivers gaiter is wet, so it must be coming from the rack.
Before I go to the expense/hassle of changing the rack, thought I might give some of this a go Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak - 355ml (12 fl. oz.): Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

Out of interest, has anybody tried it, had any success?
Just trying to put off the inevitable, at 205k, it probably wont be too long before I replace the old girl.

You must use Audi Power Steering Mineral Oil for top ups as other PS oils will break the seals - documented in car manual.
Guessing this leak stop will cause more problems than it cures.

Woorlord is right, when I had a good look round at adatives (mine had a funny spell) i didn't really find any adatives suited for green miniral oil.
