9J 19" Alloys fitted but experiencing rubbing

Hi guys i have just fitted some 19" Oettinger RE alloys on my A4. was just driving on motorway and I experienced some rubbing from the front went taking a corner. I know some guys on here have got 9.5" wide 19s on their audis. Did you have to get the arches rolled? I was under the impression i will get away without having any rubbing issues. Tyre size is 235 35 19.

    Look forward to your input

Tyre size is fine, that's the size I have on my 9.5x19's and I don't get any rubbing at all and it's pretty decked on coilovers, so you should have even more of a stretch onyour Tyres than I do if yours are half an inch narrower.

What offset are the wheels? Offset plays a big part on rubbing. If you have a low offset, i.e below ET35 then that could be your problem.

Oh did ya? Haha, cheers! Well the offset is the same as mine so should be fine. What make of tyres are you running? They might have quite a square sidewall to them? Is your car lowered? If so how is it lowered? Springs or coilovers?

no worries...............was just trying to convince my wife last night that i should sell my audi so i can buy yours lol
tyres are vredestein ultra sessantas, the car is on standard sports suspension. Weird thing is compared to your car my alloys seem to be sticking out alot more but i know 100% they are ET35

Sorry I just need to correct myself as I had an early morning (for a saturday) divvy moment, I meant to say that your tyres would have less of a stretch than my tyres, not more! As you've got half inch narrower wheels the tyres will fit the rim with less stretch. Vred's do have a more square sidewall than say falkens what I'm running, I used to have the vred's on my old e46 m3.Turn the wheel onto full lock and jack the front up to see if your tyres are catching on thr suspension spring or spring seat on the shock, the standard suspension springs are bigger in width than coilovers so there could be a possibility that they are just fouling each other, it's unlikely but worth a look. Whilst your under there have a look around the inside of the arch liner to see if there are any visible rubbing marks. There is a plastic screw on the inside edge of the arch which holds the arch liner up, that plastic screw does stick out a bit and the top of the tyre can catch on that sometimes too.

i know the screw ur talking about i'll have to have a look when im off work tomorrow as working till 8 tonight. i guess you could be right will have to jack the car up and see for any rubbing. Would you know why my wheels are sticking out more if both of our wheels are ET35? mmmm she didn't take much convincing but thought ive already spent alot on the car and only had it 3 months just both an Alpine double din with sat nav and camera with bluetooth,300 on service and another 300 on cambelt n waterpump. So in abit of a catch22

here you go Marktdisport.. the backs are bit more flush now as i've got thinner adapters on now + i've got B5 spring perches for the front but haven't got them fitted yet. There coming off soon before the winter salt attacks them!!! & hopefully next spring my 20" wheels will be going on either Bentley alloys or Audi Q7s.....just got to get my arches rolled first.Once you start messing with alloys you never stop ha ha, i've currently got 4 SETS !!!!![IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
